How Contigo Group Uses the Materials Responsibility Matrix to Make Projects Clear and Efficient

In every home renovation or addition project, one of the most common questions is: Who is responsible for what?
A mirror, a light fixture, a cabinet, the appliances… some of these are chosen and purchased by the homeowner, others are provided by Contigo Group, and some come directly from a specialized subcontractor. To avoid confusion, at Contigo Group, we use a key tool:
Materials Responsibility Matrix.
What is the Materials Responsibility Matrix?
It’s a simple but powerful table that clearly defines who purchases, who provides, and who installs every material, finish, or accessory in your project.
For example:
Bathroom mirrors are usually selected and purchased by the homeowner, and our team installs them at the right stage of the project.
Kitchen cabinets are purchased and coordinated by Contigo Group, then installed by our skilled carpentry team.
Hardware like screws and nails are always provided by Contigo Group to ensure quality and compatibility with our tools.
Appliances are often purchased by the homeowner, but we coordinate installation and basic connections.
Why do we use this tool?
Clarity from the start – Everyone knows who is responsible for each item.
Saves time and money – Prevents duplicate purchases or delays caused by missing materials.
Organized workflow – With responsibilities defined, we coordinate more effectively with clients and subcontractors.
Trust and transparency – Homeowners can see, in writing, how each part of the project will be managed.
How it fits into your project
During the design and planning phase, we present the Materials Responsibility Matrix along with drawings and schedules. As finish selections are made, the matrix is updated so it’s always current.
When construction begins, the matrix becomes our practical guide:
The homeowner knows what to have ready.
We know what we need to provide.
Subcontractors know what they are responsible for installing.
The result
With this tool, every renovation runs more clearly, more smoothly, and with fewer surprises. Our mission is always the same: to make your remodeling process straightforward and positive, from material selection to the final installation details.
At Contigo Group, we believe transparency and organization are the foundation for turning the house you like into the home you love.
